今天在檢討三禮拜前寫的英文考古題，發現一題讓我點點點的字彙選擇題。
Dinosaurs were one of the first ___ of the earth.
(A) immigrants (B) inhabitants (C) residents (D) pioneers
答案 A, D 大家都很清楚不適合，至於 inhabitants 和 residents 剛好我準備學測前有背到這兩個單字，中文都可以解釋成居民。
所以我當初寫的時候就挑了residents，結果錯了，答案是inhabitants。
今天翻了一下最近買的字典，解釋如下：
resident
n [C]
1 someone who lives or stays in a particular place
such as a house or hotel
inhabitant
n [C]
one of the people who live in a particular place
結論呢，恐龍是不會住在房子或旅館裡面的。
